Job Description:
Accountabilities:
Relationship Management
- Research, qualify and manage a pipeline of prospects and donors, building successful relationships that lead to philanthropic support.
- Manage relationships, working with territorial and divisional teams to ensure full engagement and strategy.
- Conduct discovery meetings, prepare contact reports, build custom proposals,
- Build awareness of The Salvation Army’s relationship fundraising for leadership and legacy gifts
- Manage a strategy of meaningful donor engagements, with 60% of time facilitating in-person contacts.
- Responsible for legacy donor cycle that includes annual targets of 80% revocable planned gifts and 20% irrevocable gifts.
Strategy Implementation
- Collaborate with Salvation Army program leads to develop, implement, and improve on strategic fundraising framework and communicate program investment outcomes utilizing current market best practices and trends.
- Be current on planned giving trends, tax implications of planned gifts and legislation.
- Prepare briefing materials to support the participation of senior administration in fundraising activity.
- Write project-specific fundraising proposals, briefing notes, solicitation plans, gift agreements, stewardship materials and call reports.
- Create and present materials to advance fundraising asks such as generic cases for support and customized proposals.
- Record all donor interactions extensively in Raiser’s Edge NXT, tracking results and outcomes.
- Stay current on best practice, market trends, changing legislation, and tax implications of legacy giving and major gifts.
Critical Relationship Management:
Internal relationships:
- Member of the Development team to serve donors and supporters of The Salvation Army,
- Responsible for relationship fundraising, and as such works collaboratively with Development, Public Relations and , divisional leads
External relationships:
- Responsible for working directly with donors through in-person meetings, events, phone, and email.
- Working collaboratively with financial advisors and other industry professionals
Managerial responsibility:
- Reports directly to the Director Development
- Supervise up to 3 direct reports including job expectations, performance reviews and metrics.
- Manage staff recruitment, orientation and learning for team members.
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
- Responsible for receiving and delivering annual revenue targets in cash, in-kind, and deferred philanthropic gifts to the appropriate role for safekeeping, deposit, and management.
- May be authorized to spend, disburse and/or collect small amounts.
- Has responsibility for wise use of own resources.
Working Conditions:
- Working environment is typically in an office with a regular expectation of travel for meetings and events.
- May require working after business hours for events and in-person donor meetings.

education and experience Qualifications:
Education
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in Marketing, Business Administration or Fundraising
- CFRE or working toward CFRE designation preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressive fundraising experience in major gifts, corporate fundraising securing donations and sponsorships at the leadership level with gifts of $100,000 and greater.
- Project management experience, including planning, budgeting, monitoring and analysis.
Skills & Capabilities:
- Highly collaborative with the ability to develop strong partnerships across the organization.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to plan and lead projects to meet expected outcomes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (graphic design experience is an asset)
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and a variety of demands.
- Skill in preparing written reports and presentations.
- Ability and willingness to support, adhere to, promote, and further The Salvation Army’s mission, vision, and values.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $66,831.48 to $83,539.35 with a maximum of $100,247.22.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
