The CAD Designer contributes to the preparation and coordination of municipal

construction drawings, working across infrastructure projects such as roads, water, and wastewater systems. This role requires proficiency with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and flexibility in creating high-quality 2D or 3D drawings based on project requirements.

Preference will be given to candidates that are proficient in both MicroStation and AutoCAD and have experience in linear infrastructure (sewers, watermains).

Duties:

  • Prepare and coordinate working construction drawings including plans, profiles, sections, and details using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Create drawing submittal packages, including preliminary and detailed design contract drawings, following established CAD procedures and standards.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers and other engineering disciplines to plan, prepare, and review construction drawings, supporting all project phases as required.
  • Ensure drawings meet municipal, provincial, and company standards for accuracy, completeness, and conformity.
  • Process, analyze, and manipulate survey data and existing base plans for drafting and 3D modeling as required.
  • Maintain drawing archives and version control, ensuring the integrity of electronic files for all projects.
  • Participate in the development and refinement of drafting procedures and CAD standards documents.
  • Support the coordination of utility relocations and respond to technical design

reviews and requests from internal and external consultants.

  • Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and record drawings as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned and deemed appropriate for this position.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related discipline.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and/or MicroStation in a municipal or consulting setting.
  • Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Excellent communicator and able to work with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of municipal standards, CAD procedures, and file management

practices.
