Job Profile
The City of Cambridge has an immediate opening for a Senior Civil Engineering Technologist Il in the Infrastructure Services Department, Engineering Services Division. Reporting to the Manager of Infrastructure Engineering, this position is responsible for:
What you will be doing
- Project Management for municipal infrastructure renewal design and construction projects;
- Contract Administration for municipal infrastructure renewal design and construction projects;
- Project Management for municipal infrastructure projects requiring Municipal Class Environmental Assessments (EAs);
- In house design using AutoCAD Civil 3D;
- Working on capital infrastructure renewal projects including sanitary sewers, storm sewers, watermains, storm ponds, retaining walls, parking lots, roadways, culverts and other structure assets;
- Preparing detailed design drawings and cross-sections, preparing detailed cost estimates, coordinating land acquisitions for road widening and easements, etc.;
- Coordination of engineering projects with various levels of government, government agencies, utility companies, railways, consultants, contractors and others;
- Receive, investigate and respond to general engineering complaints from the public;
- Organize and conduct engineering investigations regarding municipal infrastructure, in response to requests from Members of Council, City staff and the public;
- Assist in the preparation of budget estimates and monitor cost-shared expenditures on City on Regional projects;
- Contribute to Design and Construction Engineering Standards; Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); Policies and Best Practices documents;
- Provides information to update Asset Management systems for roads, bridges, storm, sanitary, watermain, etc. to reflect completed construction;
- Represents the Division on Regional Projects;
- Provides engineering expertise/technical guidance to other City Divisions and Departments regarding Engineering Standards and Policies;
- Acts as back-up to Project Engineer, and Manager of Infrastructure Engineering, as required;
Education
Three-year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology; Registration with OACETT with CET designation
Experience and Knowledge
- Five (5) years municipal engineering experience, including two (2) years project management of consultants and contractors for municipal infrastructure projects, construction administration and proficiency in engineering software applications including AutoCAD Civil 3D, GIS
- Working knowledge and experience with modelling software such as PCSWMM, HEC-RAS, etc.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset

Valid G driver's license.
Worker Health and Safety Awareness Training certificate from the Ministry of Labour. (may be obtained post offer)
Your compensation
This position is within Grade 12 of the CUPE Local 1882 Salary Schedule and has an annual salary range of $95,241 to $101,228 (2025 rates) based on working 35 hours per week. We offer a comprehensive benefit package and are an Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) employer.
Hours of work
The current regular hours of work are in accordance with the collective agreement, however currently are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm. (35 hours per week). Overtime is per the Collective Agreement.
