As NAIT continues to grow its student body and lead the way in hands-on learning, we are recruiting skilled and passionate individuals to help inspire and train current and future industry professionals and become part of Canada’s leading polytechnic.

The Engineering Design Technology program at NAIT is a nationally accredited two-year diploma program. The program trains students in three areas, Machine Design; Municipal Design and Process Design. The program emphasis is on design with the engineering drawing as the final product of the design process.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for, and present technology based curriculum in classroom and lab settings.
  • Create, organize and supervise practical assignments.
  • Conduct student evaluation and maintain student progress records.
  • Seek feedback from students on instruction.
  • Participate in course review, program review and curriculum development.
  • Maintain contact with relevant industries.
  • Participate in other program and institute activities that promote and develop the program.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Extensive technical experience in the areas of mechanical design or infrastructure, and drafting is fundamental
  • Basic knowledge of core engineering courses including some or all of the following: Fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, descriptive geometry and structural theory
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of Revit and Inventor is an asset
  • Some knowledge of manual drafting is an asset
  • Candidate should have sound communication skills in written and oral English and be committed to the following: student motivation and achievement, student success and satisfaction, team concept in program operation and to continuous quality improvement

Qualifications:

  • A Master’s or Undergraduate Degree in Engineering (Mechanical/Chemical/Civil/Mining or related area), or a Diploma in Engineering Design & Drafting from a recognized Technical Institute.

  • Eligibility for registration with APEGGA or ASET

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration: Will commensurate with education and experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Instructor salary grid $65,218.00 - $113,452.00 annually. However, starting salary for new hires averages between $78,998.00 - $85,889.00 annually based on education and experience with room for negotiations. (Classification – Instructor).

This position is covered by the NAIT Academic Staff Association (NASA) Collective Agreement
