Teacher

Position:Teacher, Temporary: Secondary Mathematics & Science Grades 6/7

Location: Ecole Pine Grove Middle School

Start Date: September 1, 2026 or upon mutually agreeable start date until June 29, 2027 or upon return of the incumbent whichever occurs sooner.

Hours of Work: 1.0 FTE Monday-Friday

The competition will remain open until: June 30, 2026 at 12:00PM MST

Ecole Pine Grove Middle School is located in Edson, Alberta, within the Grande Yellowhead Public School Division. Ecole Pine Grove Middle School, serves around 330 students in grades 6-8.

Role And Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a collaborative person with proficiency in the use of educational technology and have an understanding of assessment for learning. The responsibilities include:

Providing instruction to promote high quality student-centered learning. Designing and preparing lessons based on curriculum and following a variety of methodology in teaching and instructing students, including lectures, demonstrations and discussions. Facilitating inclusive educational practices to maximize educational opportunities for all students. Reviewing and evaluating each student's performance, knowledge and skills and meeting all reporting and assessment deadlines. Adhering to provincial legislation, board policy and division administrative procedures. Developing constructive relationships with parents. Modelling commitment to professional development. Performs other related duties as assigned by the Principal to support the effective operation of the school.

The preferred candidate should have experience in secondary school Life Skills/Intervention Programming as well as Mathematics & Science; however, assignment flexibility may be considered based on the candidate’s skills and qualifications.

Requirements

The successful candidate will:

Possess an Alberta Teaching Certificate or be eligible for one. Have experience in following the Teaching Quality Standard (TQS) and infusing literacy across the curriculum. Hold a Bachelor’s degree of Education. Additional experience teaching Social Studies will be considered an asset.

The Division also provides $725 per year for teachers to allocate within a Health and Wellness Spending Account.

Available Leaves

Personal leave of absence, 4 days per school year May accumulate up to 11 total personal leave days, see the Local ATA Collective Agreement for further details. GYPSD is a participating School Division within the Northern Student Teacher Bursary.
