We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Serviceworker to join the Support & Services Department in Winnipeg, MB.
You will will perform skilled electrical or mechanical maintenance duties in the Apparatus Maintenance Shop. This work will be
performed in a safe and efficient manner. This is a temporary position for a period of approximately 12 months.
Responsibilities:
- Repair & perform acceptance tests and all electrical tests on a variety of distribution class equipment, including distribution
transformers, pad mounted transformers, oil circuit reclosers.
- Assist Technicians in the repair, maintenance and acceptance testing of a wide variety of distribution and power class
equipment, including power transformers, high voltage circuit breakers, three phase pad mounts, regulators, capacitors,
potential transformers, current transformers, three phase oil circuit reclosers, switches, cutouts, and switching cubicles.
- Perform repair and maintenance, including sanding, varnishing, and waxing to a variety of fiberglass hot sticks and hot line
crew tools (ladders, spacers, etc.). Must be able to wear appropriate PPE when working in the paint booth.
- Construct, repair and test temporary protective grounds and line jumpers.
- May be required to assist with duties associated with the IGS section of the Shop. Duties may include assisting with insulated
gas testing, sampling, consolidating, inventory control/maintenance, record keeping, gas cart use, bottle weighing, etc.
- Test, inspect and perform high voltage tests or acceptance checks on rubber safety equipment including gloves, sleeves,
blankets, line hoses, hoods and hot line jumper cables.
- Sample hazardous material received at work site and prepare for storage. This includes PCB waste oils, solvents, antifreeze,
grease, etc.
- Empty, clean, fill and sample insulating oil in drums.
- Clean, prepare for painting, paint and stencil all types of apparatus and electrical equipment.
- Train and guide junior employees in correct repair and test methods of electrical apparatus.
- Be a member of the spill response team.
Qualifications:
- Grade 12 education or equivalent.
- Must have a minimum of one year of directly related experience working on electrical apparatus.
- Successful completion of a basic AC/DC Theory course equivalent to the first year of the Power Electrician's Training Program
or equivalent demonstrated electrical theory knowledge gained through related hands on experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge and acceptance of tests and standards, test methods and the use of required test equipment, and
computer applications required for the work to be performed.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose problems and faults from test results and/or visual examination on work under their
responsibility.
- Knowledge to train and guide other employees in correct repair, maintenance and test procedures and the handling of
hazardous waste material.

- Possess a mechanical aptitude and physical capability sufficient to satisfy all work requirements of the position.

- Have the ability to work harmoniously and cooperate with others in a team environment, accept functional guidance from
various sources and communicate effectively with co-workers.
- Possess (or obtain within a short time frame) certification/qualification in the operation of forklifts, electric motor hand trucks,
non-insulated scissor lift, as well as respirator use, craning, rigging, spill response, TDG and WHMIS.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence.
Salary Range
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $26.72-$35.96 Hourly,
$51,208.04-$68,901.04 Annually.
