RESEARCH COORDINATOR (RESEARCH ASSISTANT II) Discipline of Pediatrics (Janeway Pediatric Research Unit)

Faculty of Medicine

(One Year Contractual Position)

DUTIES Reporting to the manager of operations for the clinical disciplines, the successful applicant will be required to perform senior level professional and technical work in a research support capacity under the direction of the Director of Pediatric Research and the Chair of Pediatrics. As a member of the leadership team of the Janeway Pediatric Research Unit (JPRU), the successful incumbent will be responsible for supporting the development, management, and coordination of research studies in the JPRU and supporting the unit’s overall operations. This position includes the management of projects conducted by faculty, pediatric specialists, residents, medical students, research trainees, and research staff. Duties include supervising research staff and aiding with the hiring of new staff; orientating new research staff and research trainees; providing guidance to research nurses and assistants; helping to ensure that project time lines are met; reporting to sponsoring agencies; liaising with other university departments, including the Office of Research, HREA, RPAC/EPAC, etc., on various research topics; aiding with the coordination of the JPRU summer research series; ensuring professional and ethical standards are maintained for research projects; supporting the goals and objectives of the JPRU; supporting specific research projects; and performing other related duties as required.

Qualifications 3-5 years’ experience in a clinical research environment and in the coordination, design and epidemiology of clinical research with completion of a master’s degree in clinical epidemiology, health research or related field or any equivalent combination of experience and training. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, computer skills including MS Office Suite; SPSS; and substantial knowledge of clinical research methods are required. Experience in nursing or other medical/allied health professions, experience in Pediatrics, and experience working in a team setting in a university/hospital environment would be considered assets.

SALARY $69,214 - $81,193 per annum (Non-Bargaining)
