This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for students and first-time job seekers. We offer 20-30 hours weekly that can be schedule around school. No previous experience is required, and training will be provided.
Are you someone who takes pride in a clean, organized workspace? Do you like staying busy, working with your hands, and being part of a hardworking team? Summit Motors is looking for a Shop Assistant to help keep our heavy-duty truck shop running smoothly and safely.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced role that plays a critical part in supporting our technicians and maintaining a professional, efficient shop environment.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days are ever the same, but your key responsibilities will include:
- Emptying all garbage containers daily
- Collecting an properly disposing of recyclables
- Maintaining a clean, organized wash bay – including hoses and floors
- Returning jack stands and large tools neatly to the tool room and oiling air tools
- Keeping the outside of the building clean and professional
- Assisting senior technicians when required – this is a team-first environment
- Picking up and returning cores to Parts after checking with technicians
- Sweeping and washing shop floors
- Keeping the bone yard, press area, and oil tank area clean
- Draining oil filters and placing them in the proper barrels
- Maintaining the shop truck
- Snow removal around walk-in and overhead doors each morning in winter
What We're Looking For
- Strong work ethic - you don't wait to be told what to do
- Reliable and punctual
- Physically capable of lifting, bending, and working outdoors when required
- Comfortable working in an industrial shop environment
- Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions
- Previous shop, warehouse, or yard experience is an asset (but not required)
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
