This position supports MCC Saskatchewan’s Community Development team in implementing summer youth programs, including weekly programming and a week-long peace camp. The role emphasizes peacebuilding, reconciliation, and community engagement among Indigenous, newcomer, and settler youth. Programming aligns with Truth and Reconciliation Commission recommendations and includes educational activities, community events, and gardening initiatives to promote healthy living and environmental stewardship.

- Be 15–30 years old at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada

Key Responsibilities
General Duties:

Maintain a high level of integrity, reflecting MCC’s values to those with whom you interact including staff, volunteers, and the local community

Model nonviolent peacemaking in the workplace and community through respectful interactions and work relationships
-
General office work (telephone, filing, computer work, photocopying, etc.) required for program management
Program Coordination:
- Coordinate summer programs for elementary aged children and youth
- Co-lead weekly summer programming in the Meadowgreen neighbourhood
- Work alongside the Coordinator and other summer staff to offer support, ideas, and leadership
- Provide support to coworkers leading the summer programs
- Create opportunities for special events and summer field trips
- Offer educational activities to enhance summer programs
- Assist in planning community events
- Plan and implement a week-long peace camp for youth ages 10–15
- Develop promotional material and liaise with community partners to advertise
- Plan summer events (i.e., swimming, movies, storytellers, etc.)
- Implement and supervise all day camp activities
- Plan and implement a healthy nutrition plan
- Develop and maintain a discipline structure for participants and ensure volunteers understand program goals and outcomes
Volunteer Engagement:
- Communicate by email or phone with snack and evening volunteers
- Help recruit volunteers for the program
- Coordinate volunteer orientation(s)
- Recruit participants and process registrations
- Connect volunteers to broader MCC programs with assistance from MCCS Community Development staff
- Ensure safe, inclusive, and respectful environments
Community Connection:
- Connect with local partners during the season
- Work to alleviate stereotypes and misunderstandings present within the community
- Raise awareness of MCC with youth and young adults in Saskatchewan
- Develop an understanding of issues surrounding urban poverty, newcomers to Canada, creation care, peace and justice
Administrative Tasks:

Maintain records of expenses and receipts

Assist with budgeting and reporting

Keep track of budgeting and finance information for programs

Regularly communicate with Community Development staff at MCCS

Other duties as assigned
Special Projects:
- Coordinate and oversee a community festival/carnival to celebrate diversity and resilience in Meadowgreen
- Develop peace curriculum focused on Indigenous ways of knowing and land connection
- Oversee gardening program to connect youth with food sources and healthy eating

01 Jun, 2026 - Flexible start date beginning mid-June

8 weeks to end by August 22, 2026
Salary Details
Base salary: $17.5
