Environmental & Sustainability Engineer
About the role
Reporting to the Director, Environmental Sustainability , the Environmental Sustainability Engineer will provide technical leadership and data-driven insight to support Cavendish Farms’ sustainability goals. This role blends engineering analysis, modelling, regulatory expertise, and cross-functional collaboration to drive meaningful improvements across water, energy, greenhouse gas emissions, waste reduction, electrification, and emerging sustainability technologies .
You will work closely with site teams, engineers, and external partners to transform opportunities into actionable, high-impact sustainability initiatives.
Wages - 75K-95K annually.

Identify, evaluate, and model environmental sustainability opportunities across operations, including water, energy, GHG emissions, waste, electrification, and emerging technologies

Work closely with site teams to analyze site‑level data , develop and manage environmental KPIs , and ensure accurate, real‑time sustainability tracking

Provide technical engineering analysis for sustainability initiatives, including:
- Heat recovery
- Energy efficiency projects
- Biogas utilization
- Methane management
- Sustainability impacts of capital projects

Lead technical modelling and scenario analysis to support sustainability target‑setting and long‑term roadmaps

Serve as the prime technical contact for climate‑related regulatory and reporting programs, including federal Output‑Based Pricing System (OBPS) requirements

Support and guide sites with environmental and emissions reporting to government bodies

Ensure Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) impacts are assessed and quantified for major capital projects
-
Provide technical support for GHG reduction projects , including evaluation and optimization of carbon credit strategies

Support applications for external funding and grants through development of technically sound business cases

Act as Cavendish Farms’ go‑to technical resource for sustainability initiatives across the organization

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering (or equivalent engineering discipline)

5+ years of experience in project management and technical engineering, with a strong focus on sustainability and resource optimization

Proven experience with water, energy, emissions, or waste-related projects within an industrial or manufacturing environment

Strong technical modelling and analytical capabilities

Experience working with sustainability KPIs and data-driven decision-making

Knowledge of climate policy, emissions reporting, and regulatory frameworks

Ability to evaluate sustainability impacts associated with capital projects
