Summary
We are seeking a Mental Health Worker (Social Recreation). This position will primarily support social recreation activities on Wednesday and Friday (4 to 8:30 pm) and daytimes on Saturday and statutory holidays. Some weekday work is available but is not required. This position has a focus on social and recreational activities. We are looking for someone who can champion fun and innovative activities that offer great opportunities for members to connect, learn, explore, contribute and enjoy.

The Opportunity
We are seeking a Mental Health Worker (Social Recreation). This position will primarily support social recreation activities on Wednesday and Friday evenings, and daytimes on Saturday and statutory holidays. Some weekday work is available but not required.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field. Candidates with significant progress towards their degrees will be considered.
- At least 2 years’ experience in supporting adults with serious mental health needs. Equivalencies will be considered.

- Strengths-based orientation and commitment to working in a trauma-informed way with a diverse population that experiences multiple barriers
- Strong work ethic, patience, and flexibility
- Enthusiasm, energy, and a sense of fun that invites engagement
- Awareness of the importance of stress management and self-care for themselves and others
Requirements:
- Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record
- Recent Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector

We work to maintain a vibrant community of individuals seeking to overcome barriers presented by mental illness. Through participation, personal development, and individual empowerment, we give people the tools they need to create a sustainable, fulfilling lifestyle at work and at home.
We seek out employment opportunities for our members through initiatives like our Employment Program* and provide ongoing support, coaching, and mentorship to our members.
Potential Place advocates for housing for our members. In addition we have two small apartment buildings that house 25 members who live independently.
The YAOP (Young Adults of Potential) provides the opportunity for peer to peer engagement between young adults transitioning from youth programs into adult programming. The age range of our young adults are from 18 to 32 years.
