Position Vacancy: Cardiovascular Technologist

Hours of Work: Part Time Position

Location: WRHN @ Queens

POSITION SUMMARY: The role of the Cardiovascular technologist is to perform cardiac diagnostic tests (electrocardiograms, cardiac stress tests, ambulatory holter monitoring and tilt table testing for outpatients coming to the CRES department as well as services to inpatients throughout the Midtown and Chicopee locations. The Cardiovascular technologist is registered with provincial and or national associations and provides both technical and clinical expertise with regards to operating relevant equipment, running the abovementioned tests and providing preliminary interpretation of test results to the physicians and care providers at WRHN.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform 12 lead ECGs for outpatient clinics and some in patient areas as needed.
  • ECGS are transmitted to Cerner and assigned to the reading physician.
  • Critical findings reported to the MRP immediately.
  • Manages ECGs in Cerner to make sure that each ECG is attached to an order and assigned to the reading physician.
  • Responsible for outpatient and inpatient orders for holter monitoring (24h-14 days); which includes patient preparation and application of monitor, providing patient with instructions for changing electrodes, documenting symptoms in patient diary and information for return.
  • Upon return to WRHN, CVT is responsible for proper cleaning of monitor and downloading data to the Holter Scanning software (HE/LX).
  • CVT is responsible for scanning results and creating preliminary reports for the physician to sign.
  • Responsible for outpatient stress cardiac stress testing which includes patient preparation, test explanation and documentation of results, providing the physician with a preliminary report for the physician to sign Responsible for set up and monitoring of patients during tilt table testing with physician present.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Cardiovascular Technology program as a Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)
  • Membership with Ontario Society of Cardiovascular Technologists (in good standing).
  • Will consider new graduates who have had exposure to all testing modalities thrugh student placements and who will be writing OSCT or CSCT exam

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience with all modalities of testing an asset.
  • At least one year previous experience is preferred.
