Course Description: A critical introduction to the main themes and questions defining South Asian history from its beginnings to the present. Emphasis will be placed particularly on the period after the 1750s, which saw the emergence of British imperialism, anti-colonial struggles, and the formation of new nation states after 1947. (24L/12T)

Class Schedule: Thursdays, 11:00–1:00

Hours of Work: Thursdays, 2:00 – 4:00

Sessional Dates of Appointment: September 1, 2025 - December 31, 2025

Salary: $54.27 per hour

Qualifications: Applicants should have a completed PhD or (for non- U. of T. graduate students) equivalent, with major field in the relevant topic area.

Demonstrated effectiveness as a teaching assistant, academic qualifications in the subject, ability to introduce students to a diverse range of approaches, and suitability for the position.

Description of Duties: Duties may include the teaching of small tutorial sections, marking of assignments, holding scheduled office hours and invigilation of exams; other duties as determined by the supervisor.
