**Home Campus:**Fennell & IAHS with travel to other campuses as required (fully on-site)

**Rate of Pay:**Payband G (Start Rate: $34.60 per hour)

Job Summary

As a Library & Information Technician, you will play a key role in supporting student success and enhancing the library experience across Mohawk College campuses. You will serve as a primary point of contact for library users, providing front-line support for research, learning, and access to library resources.

This is a dynamic, service-focused role that blends user support, research assistance, and library operations, with opportunities to contribute to outreach, collections, and continuous service improvement.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Provide high-quality, front-line service to library users in person, by phone, and online (chat, virtual, and email), supporting access to library spaces, services, and resources.
  • Contribute to a welcoming and respectful library environment by monitoring spaces and addressing issues in alignment with library policies.
  • Assist users with research by identifying information needs, conducting searches across library systems and databases, and supporting the use and evaluation of information sources..
  • Deliver one-on-one and small group support, including library orientations and guidance on research tools, the research process, and citing sources
  • Support the promotion of academic integrity in collaboration with the Academic Integrity Office, referring complex inquiries as needed
  • Perform circulation services, including borrowing, returns, holds, fines, and resolving account-related issues.
  • Collaborate with the Librarian team to support the development, curation, and maintenance of research guides and learning resources
  • Support interlibrary loan services by processing requests, coordinating materials, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Catalogue and process library materials across formats, creating and maintaining bibliographic records using established standards (e.g., MARC, RDA), and ensuring the accuracy and accessibility of the library catalogue.
  • Support collection maintenance and development activities, including acquisitions, inventory, shelving, and identifying materials for addition or withdrawal.
  • Promote library services through displays, events, outreach activities, and digital channels (e.g., social media), and collaborate with the Library team to support research guides and learning resources.
  • Participate in projects, working groups, and continuous improvement initiatives.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 2-year CAAT Library and Information Technician diploma.
  • Minimum of two year’s work experience in a library in a public service environment performing duties such as information literacy (incl. reference) support, understanding of research methods in an academic setting and information services in a variety of subject areas, library orientation, circulation, and library support/technical services.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.
