About the role

As a Civil Engineering Technologist you will become an integral part of our multi-disciplinary teams working in the office and the field on water supply, storage and retention, mine water and urban stormwater drainage, flood and erosion protection, geohazard remediation for roads and railroads, and environmental assessment and remediation projects.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Work on a variety of challenging engineering projects including dams, municipal, tailings ponds, public infrastructure, mine infrastructure, geohazards, foundations, and drainage systems.
  • Prepare detailed drafting and civil design for earthworks using AutoCAD and Civil3D.
  • Prepare engineering drawings (plans, profiles, cross sections and details) to specified drawing standards.
  • In addition to drafting and design work, we are looking for an individual who has a keen interest in field work. Potential field work opportunities include construction monitoring and site investigations in western and northern Canada, primarily Alberta, and possibly internationally.
  • Work within a multidisciplinary team environment that fosters career development.

We value your:

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience.
  • Diploma of Engineering Technology (Civil), Diploma of Civil Engineering (Drafting/Design) or similar from a recognized technical institute.
  • Experience in civil or mining engineering projects including: foundations, dams, ponds, roads and drainage.
  • Experience and proficiency with the latest version of AutoCAD or Civil3D.
  • Previous field experience and safety certification are an asset.
  • Experience in the administration and monitoring of construction including reporting.
  • Working knowledge and solid understanding of materials testing procedures and construction survey requirements.
  • Experience in subsurface field investigations including installing and reading geotechnical instruments as well as data processing.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and analytical skills.
