Your new role
Reporting to the Director, Operations Integration, you will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and implementing technological projects for our Windfall project, currently in the pre-construction phase. The objective is to ensure the deployment of various mining and processing technologies prior to the operational phase.
You will be expected to:
- Develop a project charter covering all aspects required for project planning and management, including scope definition, resource planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Build a supplier mapping related to mining and processing technologies (automation, control room, proximity detection, integrated communications, systems, etc.).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, engineering, operations, suppliers) to ensure alignment of project objectives and deliverables.
- Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets; monitor progress and adjust as needed.
- Identify and mitigate risks throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide technical support and guidance during implementation phases.
- Prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders and management.
- Support post-implementation assessments and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role will require interaction with a wide range of stakeholders. Accordingly, you will be expected to:
- Work with international experts to adopt best practices used within Gold Fields.
- Collaborate with the global asset optimization team to ensure the adoption of best practices in continuous improvement.
- Work with equipment manufacturers and suppliers to integrate operational technologies into the mine site.
- Participate, alongside the commissioning team, in defining the start-up approach to achieving project objectives.
What you'll need to succeed
- Over 5 years of experience in mining operations and project management
- University degree in a relevant field (project management training is a strong asset)
- Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or eligible for membership
- Experience in the implementation of mining operational technologies with solid proficiency in technologies and IT systems integration
- Bilingual, with the ability to communicate with clients and stakeholders in both French and English
- Strong project management skills (scope definition, budget and schedule development)
- Proven leadership to motivate, guide, and continuously align diverse teams
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively across various functions and domains
