Duties:

Duties: Sheriff Officers are responsible for escorting, guarding, transporting and maintaining control of persons in custody. Maintains order, security and decorum in all courts as required. Assists in the enforcement of Writs and court orders, including seizures and evictions, delivers various court documents and apprehends persons under bench warrants.

Interview: A satisfactory Driver's Abstract, a photocopy of a Criminal Record Check with VSS, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check are mandatory and must be provided (or proof of request provided i.e. receipt) at the time of your interview.

Training: For selected candidates, a mandatory paid training program of approximately 3-4 weeks (full days Monday to Friday) is required. Candidates are eligible to receive a stipend of $70.00/day for training period. Attendance is mandatory to receive stipend. Following successful completion of the training program, candidates will be hired as part-time term Sheriff’s Officers. Regular full-time positions are then subsequently filled with part-time employees. A medical fitness report will be required prior to the commencement of Sheriff's Officer Training. A Full Class 4 Driver's License (4F), First Aid and CPR (level C) certificates are to be provided prior to the completion of training and before an offer of employment can be made

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • A satisfactory enhanced security check Level IV, Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check and a Child Abuse Registry Check are mandatory and must be obtained prior to the commencement of Sheriff’s Officer Training.
  • Satisfactory medical fitness report will be required prior to the commencement of Sheriff’s Officer Training
  • Full Class 4 Manitoba Driver’s License (4F)
  • Satisfactory Driver’s Abstract
  • First Aid and CPR (level C) certificates
  • The ability to travel within Manitoba (including small planes)
  • Ability to work extended and flexible hours including short notice call ins is required
