About the role
BIM Coordinator-Junior:
Imagine playing a central role in reducing the carbon footprint of Canada’s busiest public transit system while working for a consistently ranked Top Employer with a global reach. As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly transforming the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring hundreds of roles. The GO Expansion scope includes new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signaling, telecommunications, digital systems, maintenance, and much more.
Objective
- Be responsible for the coordination of design models both internally and externally.
- Review incoming and outgoing information to ensure proper exchange in accordance with the BIM Execution Plan (BEP).
- Validate and collect input from other disciplines and share them with subsystems for design production.
- Ensure that all models align with the project BIM execution plan requirements.
- Create Specific models in Autodesk Civil 3D and Revit.
Responsibilities
- Assess Civil inputs for quality and usability and provide these inputs for subsystem design development.
- Create Dynamo scripts to
- Ensure subsystem BIM models comply with BIM Execution Plan requirements.
- Coordinate between subsystems and other civil partners on the project.
- Assist coordination meetings with subsystems and civil partners.
- Assist in Creating and maintaining the federated model, including subsystem and civil partner models.
- Ensure proper use and updates of BIM guidelines and processes throughout the design process.
- Follow up on schedule defined by the System BIM Manager and Project Engineering Manager.
- Assist in preparing baselines data and sharing throughout the project teams.
- Participate in process and “Metier” improvement workgroups when requested, proposing updates and improvements to working processes, tools, and the Reference Library.
- Report anomalies against the reference library and/or local standards and propose improvements or evolutions.
Performance Measurements
- Maintain an updated list of BIM models and their status.
- Contribute to enforcing best practices within the BIM and design teams.
- Report on design development and clash management status to the System BIM Manager and Interface Manager.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering or equivalent education.
- BIM and/or AutoCAD Certification.
- Hands-on experience with Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), and GIS.
- 3+ years of BIM coordination experience on complex projects.
