As a Health Care Clerk in a correctional facility, you will provide essential administrative support to the health care unit—helping ensure services are delivered efficiently, accurately, and confidentially in a secure environment.
About the job
Working within a systemic change and anti racism organizational context that values diversity, equity, and inclusion, you will:
- Provide front line receptionist and telephone support
- Schedule and coordinate medical appointments
- Prepare routine documentation and maintain confidential health care records
- Coordinate billings, process invoices, and prepare reconciliation reports
- Provide general clerical support
What you bring to the team
Administrative Knowledge and Skills:
You:
- Know office administrative practices, filing systems, and how to use related technology.
- Can interpret and apply relevant legislation and policies (e.g., Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and the Mental Health Act).
- Understand medical terminology to accurately interpret and process information.
- Are familiar with health care policies regarding the release of medical information.
Organizational, Analytical and Reasoning Skills:
You:
- are organized and can prioritize multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines
- pay attention to detail and analyze information to recognize and correct errors (e.g., missing information, document issues, scheduling conflicts)
Communication, Interpersonal and Computer Skills:
- can prepare and present information in a clear and concise manner
- apply your interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse client group
- can work independently and as part of a team
- are proficient with using various computer software applications and databases (i.e. MS Office, database systems)
