Job Description
- Play a leadership role within the Defence Services management team, ensuring alignment between organizational management and project delivery.
- Hold responsibilities as the Senior Project Manager for the delivery to the client of the Simulation Development, Operation, and Support Services (SimDOSS) contract.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Being the primary point of contact for the client;
- Identifying and proposing costs for tasks as requested by the client;
- Acceptance of tasks in accordance with Statements of Work;
- Determination of the personnel, resources and travel needed to satisfy task requirements;
- Submission of personnel qualifications and security clearances to the client for validation prior to performance of any work underneath the contract;
- Tracking supporting activities, to ensure compliance with the contract and the client;
- Ensuring all work performed has appropriate authorization from the client;
- Attending and supporting meetings with the client as required;
- Scheduling meetings, setting agendas, and collecting and distributing minutes, including action items or decisions taken at the meeting.
- Ensuring the work is performed in the most cost effective manner;
- Managing scope, cost, and schedule requirements relating to each task;
- Managing configuration, and quality;
- Tracking and reporting contract and task financial status;
- Providing status reports on the progress of each task on a monthly basis;
- Managing, reviewing, editing and submitting contracted deliverables ;
- Ensuring the security requirements for the contract are followed; and
- Providing guidance to project staff to strengthen collaboration, accountability, and supporting their professional development through feedback and performance reviews.
- As an integrated member of the ADGA management team, support the Head of Defence Services with core business activities as tasked. This work may include, but is not limited to:
- Managing activities and resources;
- Approval of timesheets;
- Assisting with the recruitment process;
- Attending meetings, conferences, or other events as requested;
- Generating reports and briefing materials; and
- Providing coverage across the Defence Services team during personnel absences.
- Ensure projects contribute to broader Defence Services objectives, supporting both client success and organization effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Must have either: a Bachelor’s Degree or a Master’s Degree in the field of Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or Business Administration OR a Masters or Doctorate in Project Management OR a Diploma in a field related to Project Management.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Minimum 10 years performing the role of a Project Manager.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in the last 5 years performing the role of a Project Manager in a software or IT project.
- Breadth of experience across multiple project types.
- Experience performing scope management including requirements analysis, scope definition, WBS, scope validation and scope control.
- Experience performing schedule management including activity definition, sequence, duration estimates, schedule development and schedule control.
- Experience performing cost management including cost estimate, determining budget and cost control.
- Experience performing risk management including risk identification, qualitative/quantitative risk analysis, risk response, response implementation and monitoring risk.
- Worked in one or more project taskings which utilized the Agile development process.
- Worked in one or more project taskings which developed M&S training applications.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional leadership skills, ideally gained in Defence or Government program environments.
- Demonstrated experience as part of a management team, contributing to organizational-level decision-making in addition to project delivery.
Additional Information
- Able to obtain and maintain a Canadian Government Secret level Clearance
- Able to go onsite 5 days a week in the Ottawa area
