Your Opportunity:
Stantec's Mechanical Engineering team is looking for a BIM Technician. Working with Engineers and Designers, you will create and organize standard document content, and support the preparation of projects, plans, drawings, details, and specifications in accordance with Stantec standards, client standards, specifications, and building codes. You will be based out of the Markham, ON office.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Actively participate in the design of building (HVAC and Plumbing) mechanical systems for projects in the institutional, transit, food and beverage, industrial and commercial sectors as an integral member of the mechanical design team.
- Create, develop and maintain project design models and drawings using latest BIM/Revit/CAD techniques in accordance with established standards and design principals.
- Coordinate mechanical designs, models and drawings packages with other engineering/architectural disciplines as part of the complete design solutions.
- Identify discrepancies in models, drawings and information and resolve through appropriate methods and channels.
- Review models, drawings, and information to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Perform changes, additions and/or revisions as required.
- Participate in the tendering and construction phases of the project as required to support the consultants role on the project.
- Perform field reviews to support the design phase and verification of construction during project execution.
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Relevant experience working on mechanical building projects with specific experience in design and modeling/drawing development for building HVAC, plumbing, drainage and fire protection.
- Exceptional attention to detail, specifically in accuracy of calculations and completeness of data.
- General interest in construction and, in particular, in electrical and mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated effectiveness working in a multi-discipline team.
Education and Experience
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent education.
Minimum 4 years' experience in CAD, BIM and Navisworks operation and design working on buildings projects
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may require travel and include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.
