Operating under the brands Terroni, Sud Forno, Cavinona Wine Agency and the online shop La Bottega di Terroni, we have eight beautiful and unique locations across Toronto where we continue to offer a truly authentic Italian culinary experience for all to enjoy.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Head Chef to join our exceptional team of culinary leaders. Terroni is the Industry leader when it comes to providing a traditional and authentic Italian culinary experience. Whether in our dining rooms or in our retail and café spaces we honour both tradition and innovation and focus on the delivery of exceptional products and experiences. It is the Head Chef who inspires and leads the location’s skilled culinary team to consistently deliver an outstanding food experience. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced work environment and will bring both first-hand experience cooking authentic Italian food, as well as proven success leading a culinary team for a minimum of 2 years. A passion for Italian food and culture as well as current knowledge of Italian cooking techniques is a must. A degree or certificate in culinary arts, or similar relevant field is considered an asset. Description of Role:
The Head Chef is responsible for the overall success of the culinary experience*.* Reporting to the location General Manager and working under the culinary direction of the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for successfully running the BOH operations. You will lead and coach a skilled culinary team in executing consistently high quality traditional Italian products and dishes for Terroni. You will bring your joy of Italian cuisine to everything you do and will lead by example with your outstanding culinary skills and knowledge as you oversee Terroni’s mission of offering our guests an exceptional and authentic Italian food experience. Additionally, you will be responsible for hiring, training, coaching and leading a skilled culinary team in executing our high quality traditional Italian recipes, playing a pivotal leadership role on the line ensuring quality and consistency. In the role of Head Chef you will work closely with the GM to ensure the location consistently meets established standards of culinary excellence but also exceeds the expectations of our guests. You will be held accountable in part for the financial success of the business and will have the key responsibility of monitoring food budgets and reviewing costs throughout every step of the BOH operations of the business. Additionally, the Head Chef, together with the GM, must ensure the business meets all regulatory requirements and is compliant with relevant laws, including but not limited to labor and health and safety. This is a full-time position with variable shifts that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends and holidays.
You bring:
- Minimum 2 years Chef Experience
- Passion for Authentic Italian Food and Culture
- Expertise in Italian Cooking Techniques and the Philosophy of Materia Prima
- Excellent Communication, Interpersonal and Leadership Skills
- A Motivating Team Mindset that leads with Positivity and Professionalism
- Proficiency in English (*Italian also an asset)
