About the role
Primary Functions
- Analyze and determine equipment failures for root causes and recommend solutions.
- Utilize predictive maintenance tools including vibration analysis, oil analysis, infrared testing, electrical monitoring, etc. to maximize equipment reliability.
- Use CMMS as a tool to improve equipment reliability and identify previous equipment failures and repairs.
- Participate in decisions to rebuild, repair, or replace equipment.
- Continue to improve and maintain Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) program.
- Develop, analyze and improve Preventative Maintenance (PM) procedures.
- Train skilled trades and operators on technical issues, operator PMs and similar TPM initiatives.
- Engage employee involvement in TPM by leading equipment improvement teams.
- Knowledge and concepts of six sigma, TPM, and lean manufacturing concepts.
- Identify and implement methods to optimize management of lubrication.
- Assess effectiveness of TPM program by analyzing performance measures such as cost avoidance data.
- Assist in various equipment improvement and maintenance projects.
- Manage plant capital and repair projects.
- Develop methods to improve storeroom effectiveness.
- Participate in determining critical spare parts strategy.
- Supervise department employees on as-needed basis.
- Fill in for department supervisors who are absent.
- Plan and assign work to hourly employees (both trades and operations).
- Resolve employee issues through problem resolution, guidance from peers, and reliance of policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related
discipline. Project management abilities, including problem solving, time management, planning, and leadership, are essential. Must be able to effectively communicate (verbally and written) with plant management, department supervisors and hourly employees on various equipment issues. Candidate must display proficiency in computer applications, including SAP experience; must be able to successfully complete required screening assessments.
