COMPLIANCE AND VALIDATION ENGINEER

About Made by Gather

Made by Gather is the company behind America's fastest-growing kitchenware brands. Founded in 2003 by entrepreneur Shae Hong, Made by Gather makes super-premium design and innovation accessible through kitchenware and lifestyle brands including Beautiful by Drew® and bella®. We have spent 20+ years bringing trend-forward design to market through bold product ideas, innovative marketing strategies, and strategic partnerships with leading omni-channel retailers. At our core, we are built on design, quality, agility, and innovation. We move fast, take ownership, and stay close to the details that make products great.

The Role

We are currently seeking a Compliance and Support Lead in Montreal. This position will join our Engineering team and report directly to the Engineering Manager, Lab, Support and Compliance. The Compliance and Support Lead will lead product compliance efforts to ensure our product lines meet the latest regulatory, safety, and quality standards while managing engineering support activities across multiple projects from concept through production. In addition, this role will serve as Support lead for our PLM system, overseeing system configuration, workflow management, user support, and process automation to drive continuous improvement in product development and engineering change management. If you are results-driven, self-motivated, and looking for an opportunity to grow and develop your career, this role is for you.

Key Responsibilities

Lead product compliance activities throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring products meet applicable regulatory, safety, and certification requirements (UL, CSA, ETL, FCC, FDA, and international market requirements). Interpret evolving standards and regulations, assess their impact, and drive implementation across new and existing product lines. Own product technical documentation, including certification files, declarations, risk assessments, and compliance records. Support engineering activities including engineering change requests (ECRs), and product improvements. Act as a Fusion Manage (PLM) admin, supporting system configuration, workflows, permissions, item and project structures, change management processes, and user support. Drive continuous improvement of engineering processes through workflow optimization, automation, reporting, dashboards, and integration with business systems such as ERP, SharePoint, and Power Automate. Partner closely with Product Development, Quality, Sourcing, Manufacturing, and international suppliers to resolve technical and compliance issues. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing compliance priorities, engineering support requests, and system improvement initiatives. Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, reduce compliance risk, and enhance the product development process through data-driven decision making. Provide technical guidance and training to engineering teams on compliance requirements, PLM processes, and engineering best practices.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline is preferred; membership in the OIQ is an asset. 2+ years of experience in product compliance, product development, validation, or engineering support for consumer products or small appliances. Strong knowledge of North American product safety standards (UL, CSA, ETL) and familiarity with international regulatory requirements and applicable environmental regulations (RoHS, REACH, PFAS, Prop 65). Experience administering or supporting a Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system, preferably Autodesk Fusion Manage Experience coordinating multiple engineering projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Understanding of Engineering Change Management (ECN/ECR), Bills of Materials (BOMs), and product documentation control. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify process improvement opportunities. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex technical issues and align Product Development, Brand Management, Engineering, Quality, Sourcing, and supplier teams. Experience with Power Automate, SharePoint, Power BI, SQL, or other workflow automation and reporting tools is an asset.

Success Profile

You think like an owner and act like the technical conscience of the product. You are comfortable in the details, but you know how to connect those details to consumer experience, manufacturability, cost, quality, compliance, and schedule. You can work through ambiguity, push for better answers, and build credibility with suppliers through technical depth and practical judgment. You bring urgency without sacrificing rigor. You can move fast, but you do not let weak designs, unresolved risks, or incomplete validation pass unnoticed.

Compensation and Benefits

Full-time position with a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits program, including hybrid work schedule, extended medical/dental/vision, RRSP plus company match, discount program, holidays, and Summer Fridays.
