(Swim Instructor Only – Casual)

The West Vancouver Community Services Department is currently seeking Casual Intern/Mentor Lifeguard/Instructor I (Swim Instructor only) to join our highly qualified team. The successful candidate will be responsible for lesson instruction for all age groups in swimming, including specialized areas. Additional responsibilities include performing basic maintenance functions and customer service.

The preferred candidate will possess:

  • Considerable knowledge of swimming instruction techniques;
  • Ability and experience as a swimmer;
  • Ability to instruct all age groups and classes of swimmers (infants to adults)
  • Ability to maintain required records;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with the public in a variety of situations;

Required current Licenses and Certificates include:

  • Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor

The successful candidate will be required to supply a police information check with vulnerable sector and a copy of their credentials. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Candidates must be available for the following:

  • Mandatory Wet Screening: Wednesday, November 5, from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.
  • Virtual Dry Screening (15 minutes): Friday, November 14, between 1:00 – 5:00 p.m.

Successful applicants will also be required to attend mandatory staff orientations on:

  • Wednesday, December 17, from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 21, from 8:00 – 11:30 a.m.

This position is expected to begin in late December 2025.
