The Unit Manager The Unit Manager reports to the Program Manager and plays a key role in safe and timely patient care and patient/client outcomes. To minimize negative outcomes, Unit Manager must possess considerable clinical knowledge, skill level and leadership abilities. Unit Manager must have knowledge related to protocols, standards and techniques for the department and patient/client population. The Unit Manager work impacts the level of patient/client care by ensuring that clinical practice reflects the most current, evidence-based techniques and standards. As well they apply and utilizes leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving skills to assist others in providing care. The Unit Manager uses sound judgment, initiative and creativity to resolve issues brought forward by unit staff, physicians, patients/residents/clients, families, departments or other service providers.

Required Qualifications:
Health Care related Baccalaureate Degree required in addition to membership (in good standing) with an accredited health care professional association. A minimum of 5 years in a professional/clinical Health Care role ideally in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity; 3 years of leadership experience such as a charge nurse, clinical nurse educator, team lead or clinical project lead required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Special Knowledge/Skills: Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills. Ability to work in a fast paced, highly stressful environment. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to provide leadership and function as a team member. -Excellent organizational and conflict resolution skills. Ability to be objective in decision making. Ability to integrate and apply clinical excellence in the daily management of the area; and ability to manage change and create solutions for complex and diverse issues. Commitment to safe, effective and ethical patient care and work practices. Commitment to Covenant Health Mission and Values. Proven dependability and accountability. Recent experience in Geriatric Addictions and Mental Health and knowledge of recovery focused principals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous management experience in health-related field preferred. A Master's degree in Business Administration, Health Care Leadership, Health Care Administration or a health-related field is an asset. Understanding of the advanced practice nurse role is an asset. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered. Excellent knowledge of the various collective agreements (UNA, AUPE, HSAA).
