Transportation Engineer

We are seeking anEngineerto work in theTransportationgroup based out of either ourBarrie,****Collingwood, GuelphorOttawaoffice. This role will help lead the completion of transportation design projects. Typical projects include the functional, preliminary and/or detail designs of roads and highways, intersections, roundabouts, and active transportation facilities. Experience with traffic signals, Class Environmental Assessments, construction inspection and contract administration, although not essential, would be beneficial.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow into a Project Manager role, taking on more responsibilities and assisting with business development and overseeing select projects and team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the managing of multidisciplinary projects to ensure compliance with budgets and schedules
• Prepare designs using Transportation Association of Canada (TAC), MTO and/or other standards;
• Prepare designs including vertical and horizontal alignments, roadside safety, drainage, grading, stging, pavement markings and signage
• Prepare designs using AutoCAD Civil3D
• Provide technical direction and training to junior staff
• Conduct site visits and investigations
• Coordinate with utility providers to confirm existing and/or planned infrastructure
• Coordinate with approval authorities
• Coordinate with clients and subconsultants, including meetings and presentations; and
• Prepare budgets, work plans, and schedules for proposals

Key Position Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum of 5 years of transportation design experience, preferably in the consulting environment
• P.Eng. in the Province of Ontario
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel as well as AutoCAD and Civil3D
• Strong communication and technical writing skills
• Enthusiasm to work in a team structure and a willingness to guide, help and collaborate with others
• Working knowledge of appropriate design and analysis software
• Understanding of relevant legislation, guidelines and standards
• Experience with business development and project management is an asset
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and work independently under minimal supervision
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Expected Hiring Range for This Position

$80,000 to $130,000

Compensation will reflect the unique skills and experience each candidate brings to the role. The posted range serves as a general guideline, and final offers may vary.
