Description Of Work Salary Range: $37,782 - $66,120
The primary purpose of the CES II is to assist the Farm Management in the overall management of row crops, vegetables, hay, and poultry operations. Training of offenders and staff at Enterprise Farm and various state locations. This position primarily works in the daily operation of the farming operation but will also assist with row crop, poultry and vegetable production at times. This position is also responsible for the tool and key inventory for farm operation. This position will provide the necessary maintenance of the equipment operated in the cost center. This position is responsible for planting, spraying, scouting and fertilization of agricultural crops. This position will require occasional weekend work. Work must be closely monitored to comply with quality and quantity standards, NCDAC policies, safety policies, and all other applicable laws, policies, and regulations.
The position is accountable for the custody and supervision of inmates assigned to the plant. Duties include patrolling the plant and supervising production operations while ensuring the care, custody, and control of inmates in accordance with department policies and procedures. The role supervises inmates away from the prison facility for specific job assignments. Typically, supervisors on these assignments are not armed.
Management Preferences Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
- Knowledge of poultry, row crops, or vegetable production operations. Specifically, pullet, poultry layers, soybean, corn, wheat and vegetable production.
- Ability to scout crops and livestock for pests/disease and have the necessary knowledge of pesticides and their uses to plan to control the pest/ disease.
- Graduation from high school and a minimum of two years of related industry/service experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Must have the ability to obtain an NC License (Public Operator) in Agricultural Pest/ Plant within 6 months of hire.

Must be eligible for certification by the NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Must be at least 20 years of age and a citizen of the United States.
- Must possess a valid driver's license.
- The CES II will be responsible for maintaining a Class C license as well as a pesticide and wastewater license.
- Pass Psychological testing as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Pass Physical Examination as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Pass Drug Screening as required by NC Criminal Justice Education and Training Standards Commission.
- Attend and successfully complete (6) weeks of Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT) at a Training Facility. Employees shall be scheduled for BCOT during their 2nd month of employment.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
