Position Summary The Brant Community Healthcare System has an immediate opening for a Casual Part time Material Handler. T his position requires flexibility to cover sick calls, vacation time and unforeseen absences . Reporting to the Supervisor, Materials Management, and accountable to the Manager of Purchasing, the Material Handler will be responsible for the accurate receipt of Hospital supplies, equipment and associated inventory.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Unloading and verifying incoming shipments
  • Tracking outstanding purchase orders
  • Maintaining an up-to-date computerized inventory system
  • Creating supply orders on hand held computers
  • Coordinating the returning of goods
  • Operating pallet lifters;
  • Physically storing supplies including some hazardous materials
  • Picking and delivering of supplies.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • Secondary School diploma required
  • Minimum of 2 years current experience in receiving, inventory control and warehousing in a healthcare or manufacturing environment.
  • Able to handle all physical demands
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Reliable individual with excellent attendance record and able to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
  • Experience working with computerized inventory systems preferred
  • Must be available to work at both sites, Brantford General and The Willett, Paris
  • Safety (patient, worker & workplace) is a BCHS Corporate Priority. The successful applicant will demonstrate good stewardship in the identification, reporting and mitigation of unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Reliable individual with excellent attendance record and able to work all shifts

Physical Demands This position involves extensive physical effort for more than 80% of the shift including walking, standing, lifting cases of supplies repetitively and pushing and pulling of equipment and carts.
