Outside Plant Infrastructure Technician

Rally has an opportunity for a customer service-oriented individual to be part of our growing Residential Services team as an Outside Plant Infrastructure Technician.
The successful individual will play an important role in deploying and servicing Rally's expanding footprint of internet and television services through the installation and support of our broadband networking infrastructure and is someone who embraces Rally's culture of providing our clients with the highest level of quality, service, and safety.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement and maintain Fibre, Ethernet & Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) networks.
- Install, terminate (crimp), splice, test and troubleshoot Fibre Optic, copper twisted pair and Ethernet cables.
- Cable pulling, lifting weight up to 50lbs, using fishing rods and reels.
- Operation of electric tools, drill machine, impact driver etc.
- Interface with external stakeholders (clients), and internal stakeholders (operation & network team).
- Identify issues, respond to queries, and provide explanation/assistance relating to network project activity directly with external/internal stakeholders in a professional manner.
TECHNICAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to crimp RJ45 and RJ11 Ethernet cables (STP, SSTP, UTP).
- Ability to terminate/splice different types of Fibre-Optic cables (single-mode fibre, multimode fibre).
- Knowledge of Wi-Fi standards.
- Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Experience with coaxial cable termination
- Physical fitness and experience in construction are welcomed.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to work in collaboration with others.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Safe Driving record with no suspensions of any kind on your driving abstract.
- Car ownership is an asset.
- Completion of High School/Secondary School or equivalent.
- Previous experience as an Electrician or Telecommunication technician an asset.
- Previous installations, field services and/or telecommunication industry experience an asset.
- Solid organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lift up to 70lbs.
- Ability to distinguish colors.
- English proficiency, both verbal and written.
- Self-starter approach with initiative.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment with minimal direction. Flexibility to work shift work within the 6 days of the week – mornings, evenings (up to 10 pm) and on weekends and holidays.
- Experience handling tools, including drill machines, is essential.
