Graduate Student Teachers Open Call for 2025-2026

Buffalo Trail Public Schools (BTPS) is actively seeking graduate student teachers to join our amazing team once they have graduated from a Bachelor of Education (or other graduating) program.
To support you in becoming a graduate student substitute teacher with BTPS, you will need to provide the following forms completed in their entirety for your application to be considered:
- Pre-Certification Letter: the letter sent from the registrar. A copy of your Alberta Teaching Certificate must be submitted once received
- Cover letter: addressed to Ms. Camille Quinton, Assistant Superintendent Human Resources, requesting authorization to teach in our division
- Resume: which includes a chronological listing of previous teaching experience (grade/subject) and IFX and AFX placements
- 3 Professional references: must include email contact information listed in the resume (letters may be included). If you just completed a placement within BTPS, we will accept a letter from the principal and/or cooperating teacher
- VOID personal cheque or banking information
- : signed and witnessed (the witness cannot be a spouse or relative)
- : must have at least one school selected
- Original Criminal Record Check: must be within the last 6 months of when applying; the original must be mailed/dropped off at the Central Services and will be returned to you at your request
- TQS statement: You can request your TQS to be sent directly to hrteachers@btps.ca on your behalf. If you have applied and it hasn't been issued yet, you must submit a copy of the letter. You may be approved to sub without a TQS statement, but it may impact payment at grid.
- Dean of Faculty of Education letter of Clearance: to be forwarded to hrteachers@btps.ca once you have received your employment letter from the Superintendent to provide to the Dean to issue your clearance letter
Documents must be completely in full. For example, you will be asked for your SIN on a few different forms; you must fill it in on all forms as required.
