Medical Radiation Technologist (MRT) - Mammography
About the role
Required
- Member in good standing of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO)
- Graduate of an accredited program of Medical Imaging – Radiography
- Registration with OAMRS/CAMRT is preferred
- Possess valid liability insurance as defined by the CMRITO
- Completed Breast Imaging 1 and 2 courses from CAMRT
- Initiative, organizational, and decision-making skills are essential
- Strong computer skills
- Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to deal courteously and effectively with physicians, patients, and other members of the healthcare team
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload
- Must be available to work all shifts including weekends and stat holidays
Duties
- Performs all general and special radiographic procedures according to the standards of practice.
- Performs Quality Assurance procedures as set by department standards.
- Responsible for the implementation, maintenance, corrective actions and follow-up relating to all components of the mammography quality assurance program.
- Responsible to ensure adequate level of products and supplies to support daily operations.
- Archives/retrieves patient data to/from PACS.
- Reports equipment deficiencies to the Senior/Charge Technologist/manager.
- Instructs students during clinical rotation when required and participates in evaluating student’s progress.
- Assists the receptionist with booking urgent mammography examinations.
- Participates in the evaluation of new products/procedures related to mammography.
- Demonstrates willingness to provide the highest quality service appropriate to the position based on the concept and philosophy of continuous quality improvement.
- Demonstrates courteous behaviour through polite and respectful communication with all co-workers and patients.
- Participates in continuing education to increase his/her own professional growth and development.

Quinte Health provides a wide range of high quality health care services to 160,000 people living in the 7000 square kilometre region of Prince Edward and Hastings Counties and the southeast portion of Northumberland County.
