Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm
Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 per annum

Summary:
Miller Waste Systems is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Claims Adjudicator to join our Legal team at our Markham office. In this role, you will be responsible for managing and evaluating motor vehicle and property-related incidents, overseeing claims resolution, and ensuring compliance with insurance reporting requirements. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, liaise with claimants while upholding the company’s reputation, and support litigation processes.
Responsibilities:
In the position of Claims Adjudicator, your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
- Must adhere to Miller Waste System safety protocols and must be familiar with Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Manage claims throughout Ontario and other provinces, as required.
- Travel within Canada, as required.
- Effective and timely management and evaluation of motor vehicle and property-related incidents and claims and identifying requirements for insurance reporting.
- Coordinate and facilitate claims resolutions with insurers.
- Effectively manage litigation, and loss transfer files with insurers.
- Communicate with claimants directly while upholding company’s reputation.
- Work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders to resolve claims.
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Understand and assess municipal by-laws and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate, gather and document incident information from the field and claimants.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of information in files in the claims management system.
- Collaborate in the defence and resolution of claims.
- Assess coverage and liability in accordance with policy and contractual requirements.
- Assist Claims Manager and Senior Claims Adjudicators, as required.
- Ensure deadlines are met.
- Other duties as assigned.
Competencies & Qualifications:
- College diploma or university degree, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Basic knowledge of the Insurance Act of Ontario, Manitoba Public Insurance, Nova Scotia and/or New Brunswick Insurance would be considered an asset.
- Ability to understand insurance reporting requirements.
- Ability to comprehend Direct Compensation - Property Damage, Accident Benefits, Loss Transfer, CGL and Bodily Injury claims.
- Ability to read and interpret insurance policies.
- Law clerk or paralegal experience considered an asset but not required.
