Position Summary

Thales requires a Project Manager/Continuous Improvement Lead (CIL). As a PM/CIL, you will carry out an integral role, responsible for the delivery of the assigned project, its business rhythm and all associated governance aspects in order to ensure successful project execution. The role will demand an individual with highly developed communication and influencing skills and an equal depth of domain experience that can ensure Thales prioritizes and delivers continuous improvement initiatives to the schedule, cost and quality requirements and to the satisfaction of the customer.

The Project Manager/Continuous Improvement Lead will both manage a prioritized backlog continuous improvement initiative and manage prioritized improvement initiatives. Daily activities include producing detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and regular status reports for the customer and Thales internal management. The CIL will engage with various stakeholders within the Thales matrix organization and within the customer community on the project.

Key Areas of Responsibility

The Project Manager/Continuous Improvement Lead will be required to:

  • Plan, organize, lead and control the area and staff assigned to achieve outcomes within the delegated authorities and responsibilities for the Project assigned. Establish, lead and coordinate a program steering committee responsible for socializing and prioritizing continuous improvement initiatives and projects.

  • Establish and control the program business rhythm and governance for the steering committee. Ensure the financial, time and resource aspects of project are tracked against a set budget and project plan.

  • Ensure that Thales project management methodology and best PMO practice and controls are used throughout the entire project lifecycle to meet financial objectives and customer commitments. Manage all customer / stakeholder relationships to ensure other responsibilities/accountabilities are achieved.

  • Identify support and resources needed to achieve the project objectives with input of the Resource Managers. Monitor and analyze performance against the baseline, highlight any areas of cost or schedule concern, define key performance indicators (KPIs) or System Health Indicator (SHI) to assess effectiveness of improvement initiatives, and identify actions to improve performance.

  • Ensure a robust risk and opportunity management process is embedded in the program, supporting the work package leaders as required. Establish appropriate metrics to ensure robust monitoring and control for all elements. Maintain a high performing team environment for the project.

  • Ensure a “Lessons Learned” culture is embedded within the Program.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Engineering, or Relevant proven experience.
  • Certified Practicing Project Manager or equivalent (IPMA and/or PMP certification).
  • 5+ years of proven experience managing projects.
  • Previous experience working in a PMO within the Defense and Aerospace sector.
  • Experience and understanding of the Program Management process (including Change Control, Risk Management and Information Management).

Special Position Requirements

Type of Role: Hybrid (Home/Office) – flexibility to work from home, but expected to be in office as required to support the business.

Schedule: 40 hours per week

Travel: As required primarily within Canada

The reference Total Target Compensation(TTC) market range for this position, inclusive of annual base salary and the variable compensation target, is between

Total Target Cash (TTC): 116,102.86 - 149,818.13 - 197,817.78 CAD Annual
