Key Requirements

Range: $23 - $35
Vacancy: Replacement
In this role you will oversee all tool room activities, most importantly the preparation and inventory control of all tooling assemblies required for production manufacturing. This will include assembly of cutting tools for CNC machines, and operation of supporting mechanical, measurement, and inventory management equipment.
In addition, you will manage all tooling inventory in partnership with supply chain, and oversee vendor managed inventory to ensure seamless uninterrupted fulfillment of production manufacturing tooling needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/Areas of Accountability:
- Build and maintain all required tooling to detailed specifications as required to support manufacturing work cells
- Develop and document standard operating procedures / work instructions for tool room activities, and train / mentor new TMs
- Maintain equipment by completing preventative maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting and coordinating repair as required
- Regular review and management of tooling selection and inventory / tool build database
- Monitor and manage inventory control levels based on production demand and lead-times
- Perform regular cycle counts / audits to ensure the accuracy of the inventory management system
- Oversee vendor managed inventory and communicate issues as needed
- Coordinate with suppliers for repairs and preventive maintenance rebuilds for tooling assemblies when required
- Initiate and expedite tooling orders based on shortages to support production manufacturing
- Prepare documentation and coordination of return of goods as required
- Act as a key contact for vendors and suppliers involved with production tooling
- Communicate and escalate supplier issues to the appropriate authorities (based on escalation process)
- Work with purchasing to ensure delivery commitments are received from suppliers and entered into database and storage systems
- Maintain continuity across shifts by documenting and communicating any actions taken or needed
- Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering team regarding tooling selection, optimization and purchasing
- Work with Programming and Process Planning teams for production related tooling needs or modifications
- Maintain world class standards for work area through 5S and regular housekeeping
- Participate in continuous improvement activities with various teams
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and identify risks and opportunities for supplier cost reductions
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Post secondary education preferred
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- 1 - 2 years of inventory / stockroom experience an asset
- Strong team player in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings
- General knowledge of inventory management to include cycle counting, adjusting inventory levels, etc.
- Knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, electrical components preferred
