About Emanita Payments Limited eMANITA (https://emanitaglobal.com/) is a FINTRAC-registered Money Services Business (MSB) and an early-stage fintech company preparing for commercial launch. We are building a compliance-first financial platform focused on international payments, foreign exchange, merchant acquiring, card solutions, and financial services for gaming and other high-risk merchants.

Our mission is to provide secure, innovative, and accessible financial services to businesses operating in sectors that are often underserved by traditional financial institutions.

As we continue onboarding partners and preparing for launch, we are seeking an experienced and motivated MLRO / Compliance Officer to serve as our designated Compliance Officer and help build our compliance framework from the ground up.

As the business grows and transitions from commercial launch to scale-up, the successful candidate may be considered for a full-time permanent compliance leadership role. Subject to business growth, board approval, and individual performance, the successful candidate may also become eligible to participate in future employee equity incentive programs, including grants of non-voting shares or equivalent equity-based incentives.

This role is ideal for a compliance professional who wants to help build a regulated fintech business from the ground up and participate in its long-term success.

Key Responsibilities Serve as the designated Compliance Officer for the company's FINTRAC compliance program Maintain and continuously improve the AML/ATF compliance framework Develop, review, and update AML/ATF policies, procedures, and controls Conduct and maintain the Business-Wide Risk Assessment (BWRA) Develop and maintain Customer Risk Assessments (CRA) Oversee sanctions screening controls and escalation processes Conduct Politically Exposed Person (PEP) and Head of International Organization (HIO) reviews Perform Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD) reviews for higher-risk customers and merchants Manage transaction monitoring activities and investigations Review unusual and suspicious activity and prepare Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) where required Oversee Electronic Funds Transfer Reports (EFTRs) and other mandatory FINTRAC reporting obligations Support merchant onboarding reviews and risk assessments Deliver compliance training and awareness programs Coordinate independent effectiveness reviews and remediation activities Prepare compliance reports for senior management and the Board Support regulatory examinations, audits, banking due diligence requests, and partner reviews Liaise with FINTRAC, banking partners, payment providers, auditors, and other stakeholders as required Perform other compliance-related duties as necessary

Qualifications and Experience

Required Diploma in Compliance, AML, Finance, Business, Law, or a related field 2–4 years of AML/ATF or regulatory compliance experience Demonstrated experience working with FINTRAC requirements and reporting obligations Experience in maintaining AML compliance programs and risk assessments Strong knowledge of Canadian AML/ATF legislation and FINTRAC guidance Fluent or business-level proficiency in English Excellent analytical, investigative, communication, and report-writing skills Ability to work independently in a startup environment Unrestricted authorization to work in Canada

Preferred Experience within a Money Services Business (MSB) Experience within payments, fintech, remittance, or foreign exchange sectors Experience with merchant acquiring and payment processing Experience supporting gaming or other high-risk merchant sectors Professional certifications such as CAMS, CFCS, CIFCA, or ACAMS credentials (or currently pursuing them)

Additional Requirements Applicants must have unrestricted authorization to work in Canada. eMANITA is not currently sponsoring work permits, LMIAs, or immigration applications for this position. Candidates must possess fluent or business-level proficiency in English, including strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to prepare professional reports, policies, procedures, and regulatory correspondence. The successful candidate may be required to complete identity verification, reference checks, and a criminal background check. Candidates must disclose any actual or potential conflicts of interest, including work with competing MSBs, payment processors, or high-risk merchants. Candidates must be available for periodic meetings during regular Eastern Time business hours.

They are capable of balancing regulatory requirements with commercial realities and are excited by the opportunity to build a compliance function within a growing fintech business.
