Department Information

The Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) offers challenging and exciting careers in health and social services delivery and administration in Canada’s North. Job Information

The Clinical Educator conducts clinical education needs assessments, develops, and plans education programs, and delivers this education to Obstetrics (OBS) employees. These programs are also frequently offered to employees from other Health Authorities and Regions. The Educator teaches and/or coordinates the delivery of more than 10 certifications for OBS health professionals and participating as a leader in programs like: MoreOB. These courses are mandatory to allow OBS employees perform their duties and to meet standards set by Accreditation Canada and WSCC requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designs, delivers, coordinates, and evaluates employee education, orientation, and professional development programs.
  • Develops, maintains, and tracks orientation pathways, competencies, certifications, and LMS learning content.
  • Conducts learning needs assessments; evaluates program effectiveness; prepares education and compliance reports.
  • Develops and delivers clinical education, simulations, mock codes; maintains instructor certifications and audits programs to national standards.
  • Contributes to the development, review, and implementation of clinical and corporate policies, procedures, and SOPs.
  • Supports quality improvement initiatives through targeted education, research integration, LEAN practices, and accreditation standards.
  • Provides clinical documentation education, chart audits, and professional practice support, including performance improvement plans.
  • Coordinates educational resources and supports staff accessing external education, specialized training, and return of service agreements.

Key Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in nursing, AND
  • A minimum of five (5) years of perinatal experience AND
  • One (1) year of education, preceptorship or leadership experience

Additional Requirements:

  • Eligible to be registered with or currently registered with CANNN
