About the Role
PC Financial is seeking a Product Designer to craft intuitive, end-to-end digital experiences across web and mobile platforms, with a strong focus on native iOS and Android applications. In this role, you will apply your foundational formal training in design and UX design (through a post-graduate program or equivalent work experience) to design seamless user journeys, conduct heuristic evaluations to uncover usability improvements, and translate insights into high-quality, polished interfaces. You’ll collaborate closely with members of the design team, product managers, developers, and stakeholders to balance user needs with business goals, while also contributing to the evolution of our design system by creating new components and interaction patterns that support consistency and scalability. What you’ll do:
- Apply a human-centered, iterative design-thinking process to frame problems, ideate solutions, and deliver impactful experiences.
- Develop user flows, journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI designs to ensure seamless and intuitive user experiences.
- Design mobile-first experiences with demonstrated expertise in iOS and Android app design standards.
- Conduct heuristic evaluations to identify usability issues and recommend improvements.
- Create and maintain design system components, illustrations, and interaction patterns to ensure scalability, consistency, and brand alignment.
- Assist with design system audits, identifying gaps and evolving the system to meet business and user needs.
- Package requirements for development including Figma assets, micro-interactions, and behavioural documentation to support the development process.
- Participate in usability testing, analyze results, and iterate designs based on insights.
- Ensure accessibility by adhering to AODA A/AA and inclusive design practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to align design solutions with business goals and technical feasibility.
- Present design concepts to stakeholders with clear rationale, ensuring buy-in and shared understanding.
- Stay current on UX/UI best practices, industry trends, tools, and methodologies.
What you bring:
- Formal education in design such as a Bachelor of Design (BDes), Master of Design (MDes), Industrial Design, Interaction Design, plus:
- A post-graduate UX design program (one year or more) or Digital Product Design (on year or more) certificate
- 2–4 years of experience in product design, with a portfolio showcasing strong foundations in interaction design, UI, and UX problem-solving including proven experience designing for both iOS and Android native apps.
- Experience conducting heuristic analysis and applying usability principles.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and Miro.
- Strong skills in creating and evolving design systems.
- Familiarity with UX research methods (e.g., interviews, usability testing) and translating insights into design decisions.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate design decisions.
- Knowledge of AODA compliance and inclusive design practices.
- A passion for innovation, teamwork, and continuous learning.
Nice to Have
- Front-end development knowledge (HTML, CSS, React, etc.).
- Previous design experience in banking/fintech.
