We are looking for an enthusiastic and collaborative Senior Transportation Planning Engineer to lead and support high-impact transit corridor planning and conceptual design initiatives in and around the GTA, and across Canada. This role is ideal for a big-picture thinker with a strong technical background in multimodal transportation systems, agency coordination, and urban mobility challenges.

You’ll work closely with municipal, regional, and provincial clients to shape the future of transit infrastructure and sustainable transportation in one of Canada’s most dynamic regions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage transit corridor planning projects, including feasibility studies and alternatives assessments,
  • Oversee conceptual design development for transit projects, with a focus on Bus Rapid Transit corridors and their supporting multimodal connections
  • Coordinate with agencies such as Metrolinx, TTC, York Region Transit, and City of Toronto on project scoping, approvals, and stakeholder engagement
  • Experience working with outputs from travel demand forecasting (EMME), microsimulation (Vissim) and operational (Synchro) models would be an asset
  • Prepare and review technical reports, planning documents, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to knowledge sharing across the planning and engineering teams
  • Support public consultation efforts and represent the organization in community and stakeholder meetings
  • Represent Jacobs at industry events and conferences

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transportation Planning, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • P.Eng. designation in Ontario or eligibility within 6 months
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in transportation planning and engineering, with a focus on transit infrastructure
  • Proven experience working with GTA agencies and municipalities on corridor planning and conceptual design
  • Strong understanding of Ontario’s transportation and land use policy landscape and transit planning frameworks
  • Proficiency in GIS, AutoCAD, and transportation modeling software
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills

114,500.00

Posted Salary Range Upper

173,140.00

The base salary range for this position is $114,500.00 to $173,140.00. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across British Columbia, Canada locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
