About the role
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for the advancement research team, spearheading information synthesis and data analytics initiatives that generate crucial insights into donors, prospects, alumni, and other key constituents.
Working closely with partners across campus and beyond—including local, national, and international stakeholders—this role plays a vital part in strengthening relationships that advance alumni engagement and relationships, donor support and revenue generation, and institutional reputation.
Through data-driven analysis and ongoing process improvements, the position supports Carleton University’s fundraising objectives and contributes to engagement and reputation-building efforts across all constituencies, ultimately driving the university’s overall success and growth.
Qualifications:
The incumbent must possess the following qualifications:
- Knowledge of Advancement leadership concepts and practices including program/service delivery models, policy development, planning, budgeting, performance measurement management, and human resources
- Expert knowledge of fundraising data systems and Advancement Services
- Demonstrated knowledge in leveraging Microsoft tools for productivity, databases and reporting systems, AI tools, Enterprise platforms, and wide range of technology devices to drive operational excellence.
- Knowledge of donor and other funder relations best practices, program design, delivery, assessment, and evaluation methodologies, processes, and practices
- Knowledge of relevant governing legislation, collective agreements, policies and procedures
- Knowledge of DUA as well as the broader university academic units, departments, and divisions
- Knowledge of office productivity software and databases, internet browsers and search engines, discipline-specific software, enterprise software, and technology devices
- Knowledge of cultural competency and diversity
- Knowledge is used to lead prospect research and prospect management unit
- Knowledge in synthesizing multiple sources and priorities to make decisions
Education and Experience:
The above is normally acquired through the completion of:
- Master’s degree in a relevant field. Master of Library & Information Science preferred.
- Minimum of seven years of previous progressive prospect research and data analytics, and reporting experience, including five years of management experience in a unionized environment.
