SMS Equipment is currently recruiting Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our growing Timmins branch. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise to inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain off-road heavy equipment, helping ensure safe and reliable operations for our customers.

Base Wage: $55.84 per hour + premiums* Location: Timmins ON
We offer flexible work schedules to support a variety of lifestyles:
- 7x7 (Local): 7 days on / 7 days off (12-hour shifts, compressed work week premium eligible)
- 14x14 (Remote): 14 days on / 14 days off (12-hour shifts, includes travel, accommodations, and premiums)
Premiums may bring total compensation to approximately $64.61 per hour depending on schedule. Additional assignment-based allowances may apply.
What You'll Do
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and electronic systems on heavy equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance, component overhauls, and new equipment builds
- Use both digital diagnostic tools and hands-on troubleshooting techniques
- Work independently or collaboratively in field and shop environments
- Follow established safety procedures and actively contribute to a culture of safety
- Maintain accurate service records and documentation
- Adapt to a variety of working conditions, including remote sites and changing environments
What You Bring
You are a certified Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician who takes pride in your work and is committed to safe, high-quality outcomes. You bring strong problem-solving skills and enjoy diagnosing and resolving complex equipment issues. You’re comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, and you adapt well to different environments, including field-based settings.
- Experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel as required
- The ability to use a variety of diagnostic tools and approaches to troubleshoot issues
Assets:
- Komatsu experience
- Interprovincial Red Seal certification
This position is classified as an Individual Contributor role in SMS Equipment’s competency framework, requiring demonstration of core competencies (customer focus, collaboration, and technical/functional expertise).
