Essential Functions and Purpose:
The Senior Network Engineer plays a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining the enterprise network infrastructure that supports business operations across multiple sites and cloud environments. This position combines advanced technical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure high availability, security, and scalability of the organization's network systems.
This is a full-time remote position.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Architecture: Develop and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient network designs that align with business needs and future growth.
- Implementation & Support: Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, and cloud networking components.
- Monitoring & Optimization: Proactively monitor network performance, analyze traffic patterns, and recommend improvements for availability, performance, and cost efficiency.
- Security: Partner with cybersecurity teams to implement network security policies, intrusion prevention systems, and zero-trust strategies.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive network diagrams, standards, and configuration documentation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and application teams to support business projects and initiatives.
- Incident Response: Lead troubleshooting and resolution of complex network issues, including after-hours escalations.
- Leadership: Mentor junior engineers, share knowledge, and contribute to the development of best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of professional experience in enterprise network engineering, with at least 3 years in a senior or lead role.
- Strong expertise in:
- Routing & Switching (Cisco, Juniper, Arista, etc.)
- Firewalls & Security (Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco ASA, etc.)
- Wireless technologies (Cisco, Aruba, Meraki, etc.)
- WAN/LAN, VPN, MPLS, SD-WAN, and VoIP
- Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, OSPF, and multicast.
- Familiarity with automation and scripting (Python, Ansible, PowerShell) a strong plus.
- Relevant certifications preferred: CCNP, CCIE, JNCIP, PCNSE, AWS/Azure Networking Specialty, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in teams.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
