About the role

Job Number**:** 54004

The City of Edmonton is committed to achieving Vision Zero—zero traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries—by 2032. The Safe Mobility Section leads this vital effort, encompassing the core "5 Es" of traffic safety: Engineering, Automated Enforcement, and Planning and Community Activation. The Automated Enforcement unit works closely with the Edmonton Police Service to implement proactive enforcement to reduce risky driving behaviors. This is where your skills come in: we are looking for dedicated professionals to join our team in supporting this critical work to create safer, more livable streets.

As an Image Review Clerk, you will be a cornerstone of the Automated Enforcement unit, providing essential support to processes involving mobile and intersection safety device enforcement. Your primary purpose is to provide screening and identification of valid and non-valid violation images captured by automated enforcement devices. This role requires high-level attention to detail, as you are responsible for reviewing and properly identifying violations to ensure 100% accuracy. You will ensure equipment reliability and program success by identifying and reporting image issues daily to technical staff. Your accurate, competent performance directly impacts the credibility and integrity of the entire program.

What will you do?

  • Complete a daily review of images from all automated enforcement intersection safety devices
  • Verify violations are valid and equipment is operating properly
  • Create and follow up on tickets in the Maintenance Ticketing System (MTS) to ensure timely and quality repairs
  • Submit and retrieve the daily Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) file
  • Review ticket/violation status in JOIN and audit tickets as part of quality assurance and peer review
  • Gather violation information based on requests from other Safe Mobility section staff to respond to inquiries from citizens
  • Assist the Image Review Supervisor by providing information for the investigation of appeals and withdrawal requests
  • Research and respond to Edmonton Police Service (EPS) requests and complete the monthly Emergency Vehicle report
  • Gather automated enforcement information needed to respond to inquiries from community partners
  • Responsible for operating and monitoring daily ticket production workflows, including high-volume printing and mailing processes, reconciliation of output counts, and resolution of print exceptions or system rollbacks to maintain accuracy and continuity
  • Ensure all Registered Owner Certificates are created for disclosure packages as per requirements
  • Assist the Image Review Supervisor with user support for PETS and MTS
  • Act as the first level of support for the section by analyzing, prioritizing, resolving, and escalating system problems within PETS

Qualifications:

  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade, including business subjects related to word and information processing, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college
  • Two (2) years of experience analyzing complex digital information in a high-volume workflow, applying defined criteria to determine outcomes, and producing audit-ready results that must meet stringent accuracy standards

Assets:

  • Ability to obtain Peace Officer status

Skills required for success:

  • Demonstrated understanding of how the efficient performance of duties impacts the credibility and integrity of the Automated Enforcement program
  • A strong ability to create and maintain working relationships with internal Safe Mobility section staff who rely on your information and work product
  • Ability to make consistent and accurate decisions using a variety of guiding sources, including policy, equipment, legislation, and court requirements
  • Systematically apply industry standards and established image reviewing rules and policies to evaluate each image.
  • Demonstrated ability to make decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Proven ability to effectively handle sensitive information using discretion
  • Considerable knowledge of general office management and modern office practices, procedures, and equipment
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with collaborators, focusing on balancing competing requirements and service delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and quickly adapt to changing priorities
  • Independence and ability to handle stress
  • Excellent time management and verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced skills in the Google suite of applications
  • Alignment to our Cultural Commitments and Leadership Competencies (https://bit.ly/4brRrXm)
  • Embracing a culture of equity, diversity, reconciliation and inclusion
