Please note, this competition may be used to fill both permanent and temporary vacancies as needed.
Reporting to a Senior Human Resources Manager, this position provides advice and support to Government Departments, Agencies, Boards and Commissions on matters related to employment and labour relations. Specifically, this position works with executive and management, unions and other stakeholders to enhance the labour relations climate and promote a proactive perspective to problem solving and conflict resolution within the public service; provides advice and recommendations to clients on employee relations matters; assists in policy development; conducts workplace investigations; provides support on issues related to employee performance management; provides education and coaching to managers with respect to labour and employment relations best practices; collaborates on accommodation requests and other disability related issues; engages in and assists with arbitration and mediation; provides advice regarding collective agreement and MOU interpretation; chairs grievance committees, participates on bargaining teams, and provides support to labor management committees.
Screening Criteria
- Completion of a Business degree (equivalencies will be considered)
- Extensive experience managing employee and labor relations in a unionized environment
- Experience managing the dispute and grievance resolution process
- Experience conducting investigations in the workplace
