Amsted Automotive Group in London, Ontario is looking for a Production Manager with strong and proven experience in managing CNC machining and Press shops. The Production Manager is responsible for leading the operations of the plant through implementing safety practices, managing the utilization of equipment, inventory levels, and staffing to obtain maximum efficiency and meet performance objectives. This position plays an active role in supporting elimination of waste initiatives, supporting the development and implementation of process improvement projects to achieve operational efficiencies.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Adopt our APEX roadmap and promote lean manufacturing principles.
  • Update and monitor departmental goals (KPI’s). Track progress and implement corrective actions where necessary to meet targets.
  • Actively involved in developing business plans and cost reduction initiatives to meet company objectives.
  • Develop detailed procedures for all aspects of the production floor to meet quality and production requirements.
  • Support training activities for direct reports.
  • Proactively identify potential business issues and/or supply constraints, work with appropriate teams to develop recovery plans and escalate, as appropriate.
  • Participate in the APQP process, manage ramp up of new work/ramp down of current production to service levels while working closely with outside suppliers and internal production, quality, and engineering teams.
  • Responsibility for following Press and Production schedule, quality, and timeliness of production to support customer delivery.
  • Coach and provide positive motivation and reinforcement to production employees.
  • Utilize a management style that promotes and demonstrates Amsted Ideal Behaviors
  • Responsible to develop, maintain and report on the Goals & Objective measurables as they relate to the production operations. Drive the resulting root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Responsible to develop, support and promote the 5’S’ and Elimination of Waste programs related to the production operations.
  • Recommend and lead improvements in productivity, quality, and efficient delivery of products and services.
  • Establish goals to maximize efficiency and to promote employee empowerment to achieve our spirit of ownership culture.
  • Evaluate overall shop floor performance and implement corrective actions; based on production reports, quarterly and annual reports, and feedback from employees.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager
  • Ensure supervisors and team leaders understand and follow the schedule
  • Ensure supervisors, team leaders, and team members, use the tool, systems and techniques provided by the support groups
  • Ensure team members stop and call for help when a tool, system, or technique fails to work

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in manufacturing leadership, with concentration on production operations management. Experience in fast paced automotive environment preferred.
  • Experience actively leading, using, implementing, lean tools and techniques.
  • Must be able to make ethical decisions that meet company objectives.
  • Excellent communication skills are needed for internal & external customer and supplier contact.
  • Must be able to work necessary overtime if required.
  • Pro-active management style with an energetic, goal-oriented approach
  • Strong organizing and planning skills with the ability to plan ahead to avoid potential production/delivery problems
  • Possess working knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 compliance criteria
  • Experience with CNC machining
  • Experience leading in a Press shop
  • Familiarity with using the job instruction method of TWI
