About the Role:
The Manager, Operations Internal Audit, is responsible for leading a dynamic, risk-based audit strategy, and managing a cyclical audit plan focused on operations. This role involves planning and executing audits, partnering with auditees to identify risks and improve processes, and overseeing a team of audit professionals. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Internal Audit, the incumbent ensures audits are conducted in alignment with professional standards and contributes to advisory services and special projects that support organizational integrity and performance.

Audit Strategy and Planning
- Maintain a comprehensive financial, operations, and/or IT audit universe.
- Collaborate with auditee management, the Office of the CAE, and senior audit staff to develop the annual audit plan.
- Align audit priorities with organizational risk profiles and strategic objectives.
Audit Execution and Oversight
- Evaluate operational and financial risks and assess the effectiveness of internal controls and processes.
- Lead and perform audits of complex business activities, ensuring thorough documentation and analysis.
- Identify best practices and recommend process improvements and control enhancements.
- Review audit programs, risk assessments, working papers, and final reports for quality and accuracy.
- Ensure all audits comply with Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS) and internal process and quality assurance requirements.
Advisory Services and Special Projects
- Provide advisory services and develop recommendations regarding business processes, projects, contracts, and initiatives.
- Conduct confidential investigations as directed by senior leadership.
- Deliver actionable recommendations that enhance governance and operational effectiveness
Team Leadership and Development

Assign and oversee audit work, ensuring alignment with departmental goals and standards.

Provide instruction, coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations. Establishes performance expectations and monitors performance relative to defined goals.

Support professional development through the development and delivery of training and mentorship or junior team members.

Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding activities.
What You Bring:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operational Management, Finance, Accounting, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or a related field
-
10+ years of operational experience, with at least two in a leadership role
-
Proven experience in developing substantive and control-based audit plans
-
Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time
-
Ability to communicate complex findings clearly and diplomatically to senior stakeholders and facilitate problem resolution

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-
Strategic thinker with strong analytical capabilities and a holistic view of organizational impact

Effective relationship builders across diverse internal and external groups
-
Results-driven with commitment to meeting deadlines

Demonstrated leadership and team management skills

High level of integrity and ethical conduct

Auditing experience, specifically in operations, is a strong asset

Understanding of IIA standards and audit methodologies is an asset

Maintenance and reliability experience is considered an asset

Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), P.Eng, and/or PMP designations are considered assets
