Job Description Join Irving Shipbuilding and play a key role in Canada’s next generation of naval ships! We’re looking for an Auditing Quality Specialist to lead ISO 9001 audits for River Class Destroyer subcontractors, assessing processes, products, and documentation to ensure compliance with standards and contractual requirements. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify risks, review supplier quality plans, inspection reports, and certifications, and deliver clear audit reports with findings and recommendations that drive improvement across the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Review contractual requirements, vendor information, and quality plans to prepare for audits.
  • Conduct on-site and virtual ISO 9001 QMS audits.
  • Complete audit reports, documenting findings and highlighting risks.
  • Organize audit data to show trends and risks in a clear, visual format.
  • Train and coach team members on ISO 9001 and technical topics.
  • Manage RCD quality documentation in Windchill.
  • Monitor supplier quality performance and identify improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Completed degree or diploma in relevant field (Combination of work experience and education may be considered).
  • 2 to 5+ years of proven experience in auditing, shipbuilding, manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, or oil and gas preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Qualified Auditor, or equivalent required.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001:2015, AS 9100 or equivalent Quality Management Systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of shipbuilding materials, processes, and industry standards would be an asset.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office Suite skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) are required.
  • Ability to influence, coach, and train is considered an asset.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
