General Manager - Student Housing Operations

We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of a vibrant student housing community. ABOUT THE ROLE
As General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall success of the property, overseeing operations, financial performance, leasing, resident experience, facilities management, health and safety, and team development. You will serve as the primary leader on-site, working closely with corporate leadership, institutional partners, residents, and stakeholders to ensure the community operates at the highest standard.
This role is ideal for a strong relationship builder who can inspire teams, drive occupancy, manage budgets, and deliver exceptional service while maintaining a positive living environment for residents.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
Operational Leadership ✔ Lead all aspects of property operations, including administration, maintenance, housekeeping, front desk services, and resident relations ✔ Ensure the community operates efficiently, safely, and in alignment with organizational objectives ✔ Oversee commercial tenant relationships and vendor partnerships ✔ Maintain the overall appearance, functionality, and aesthetic quality of the property
Financial Management
✔ Develop and manage annual operating budgets ✔ Monitor revenue, expenses, accounts receivable, and financial reporting ✔ Ensure accurate month-end reporting and financial controls ✔ Manage vendor contracts, procurement, invoicing, and operational expenditures
Leasing & Occupancy
✔ Drive leasing performance and maximize occupancy levels ✔ Implement innovative marketing and resident retention strategies ✔ Analyze leasing trends, conversion metrics, and market conditions to optimize results ✔ Ensure exceptional customer service throughout the resident lifecycle
People Leadership
✔ Recruit, mentor, develop, and lead high-performing teams ✔ Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and collaboration ✔ Conduct performance evaluations and support employee development ✔ Manage staffing levels and scheduling to meet operational needs ✔ Promote a positive workplace culture while ensuring compliance with company policies and employment legislation
Resident Experience
✔ Champion resident satisfaction and community engagement ✔ Resolve concerns effectively and professionally ✔ Develop programs and initiatives that enhance the student living experience ✔ Build strong relationships with residents, parents, institutional partners, and stakeholders
Health & Safety
✔ Promote and maintain a strong safety culture ✔ Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation ✔ Lead training initiatives, hazard prevention programs, and workplace inspections ✔ Maintain emergency preparedness and risk management procedures

Qualifications
✔ College Diploma or University Degree in Business, Hospitality, Property Management, or a related field ✔ Minimum 5 years of leadership or property management experience ✔ Proven success managing operations, budgets, and teams ✔ Strong financial acumen and decision-making skills ✔ Exceptional communication, organizational, and interpersonal abilities ✔ Ability to manage multiple priorities and thrive in a high-volume environment ✔ Experience in student housing, residential property management, hospitality, or related industries is considered an asset
