What you will be doing
We are seeking a motivated Digital Merchandising and Search Optimization Specialist to support and optimize our e-commerce platforms (B2B and B2C). This role focuses on enhancing product visibility, driving qualified traffic through search engines, generative engine optimization, and improving the digital customer experience. The ideal candidate will have foundational knowledge of digital marketing, e-commerce merchandising, and a willingness to learn emerging AI technologies in a fast-paced wholesale environment.
SEO & SEM:
Assist in developing and executing SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings and traffic.
Support SEM campaigns (Google Ads, Bing Ads) to drive qualified leads.
Conduct keyword research, competitive analysis, and on-page optimization.
Monitor and report on SEO/SEM performance metrics and ROI.
Website Merchandising:
Optimize product listings, categories, and landing pages for conversion and discoverability.
Collaborate with marketing and product teams to plan and execute promotional campaigns.
Ensure accurate and compelling product content and imagery.
Use and update PIM / Website.
Other responsibilities as needed (related to digital)
GEO (Generative Engine Optimization):
Structure product and marketing content for machine-readable summaries and entity-based indexing.
Implement schema markup and structured data to improve AI retrievability.
Monitor emerging GEO metrics (e.g., citation frequency in AI responses, GEO Health Index).
Stay updated on GEO trends and integrate best practices into merchandising and SEO strategies.
Analytics & Optimization:
Use tools like Google Analytics, Search Console, and heatmaps to analyze user behavior.
Identify opportunities for UX improvements and A/B testing.
Provide regular performance reports and actionable insights.
COMMUNICATION
Communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain positive collaborative relationships with customers.
TEAMWORK AND COLLABORATION
Create and maintain a team atmosphere and ensure employee concerns are resolved promptly.
PROBLEM SOLVING
Be able to recommend creative solutions to various issues that may arise.
QUALITY
Ensure employees understand and adhere to ISO policies and procedures.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
Participate in conferences, seminars, and other educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintain and participate in professional networks to enhance your knowledge and skills.
Participates on committees and special projects as requested.
What you bring to the table
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
1–3 years of experience in SEO, SEM, or digital merchandising.
Familiarity with AI-powered search engines and generative AI platforms (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, Perplexity).
Understanding of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) concepts and best practices.
Experience implementing schema markup, structured data, or entity-based indexing for improved AI retrievability.
Proficiency with Google Ads, Google Analytics, and SEO tools is an asset.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Experience with e-commerce platforms and CMS systems.
Ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies in digital marketing and merchandising.
Understand how a PIM works and the ability to use a PIM.
Preferred Skills
Experience in wholesale distribution, B2B e-commerce, or related industries (electrical, lighting, automation).
Familiarity with HTML/CSS and basic web development concepts.
Knowledge of product information management (PIM) systems.
