Reporting to the Finance Manager of Operational Services, this position will provide leadership and guidance, financial expertise, business acumen, advice, reporting and interpretation of financial information for Calgary Parking.

As the Finance Lead you will review agreements, prepare cash flow forecasts, and risk identifications, focusing on growth and strategic objectives. Primary duties include:

  • Business and strategic planning: participating in management meetings and providing leadership, financial expertise and advice to help Calgary Parking in achieving goals.
  • Provide financial analysis and support: working closely with the division on both operating and capital budgets.
  • Prepare month-end packages and reports, prepare projections and financial analysis to assess Calgary Parking risks and capture cash flow forecasts.
  • Collaborate with internal partners in Information Technology (IT) and Software Development to design and advance technology used by Calgary Parking.
  • Ensure internal controls/management audits: develop and ensure proper internal controls, accounting policies and processes are in place and adhered to.
  • Support and integrate industry, corporate, portfolio and business unit policy changes and process: ensuring integrity and consistency of financial information, and adherence to City wide policies and procedures.
  • Provide business analysis and recommendations as to the efficiency, effectiveness, and scope of business activities.
  • Manage and provide leadership and direction to staff.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Business or a related field with a professional accounting designation.
  • At least 5 years of post-designation relevant accounting and supervisory experience.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • Experience working with financial reporting under Public Sector Accounting Standards is required.
  • Previous experience with PeopleSoft Financial Supply Chain Management (FSCM) and Human Capital Management (HCM) is considered an asset.
  • Success in this position requires strong critical thinking, innovation, and problem-solving skills. Well developed communication skills and effectiveness in working with senior levels of the organization.

Workstyle

  • This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. These arrangements depend on the operational requirements of the role, employee suitability, and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.

Days of Work: This position works a 5 day

work week earning 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
